Map-Making

Map-making is where we get the children to pick the picture they want to paste them on a polos (donut shaped board). The children were given the pictures and we just stood and supervised.

What has been confirmed by the children using this tool?

The children were able to pick the photos that had the most meaning to them. The pictures that they placed on their polo’s signified that it had the most impact on them. The children had the freedom to choose and place the pictures on their polo’s and we noticed they used almost all of the pictures that were provided. This confirmed that the children really wanted to show us the authority in the room and how little their voice means to the teacher.

What new information was given to us?

From this tool, we learned that the children really wanted to express how they're feeling in their learning environment, by placing as many pictures as they could to show us their space. The children also included their own drawings to explain to us any thoughts or ideas they had about their learning space. Some pictures expressed that they were sad, or their teacher is a monster, or even just using as many markers as they could on paper.
